and heavy rain through the big cities of the northeast and soon new england. it's a rough morning for the commute. winds just gusted to 43 at jfk airport. you can imagine at the airports especially from new york city, philadelphia and northwards will have the most significant delays and cancellations on this friday. thankfully it's just rain. we're not really dealing with igs ice or snow in new england. it's a different story in the great lakes. it's a winter wonderland anywhere in the state of michigan. it snowed hard last night, northern indiana and much of the state of ohio right now is seeing snow. careful driving, interstate 70 going across the lower portions of the great lakes and the ohio valley. and the winds are gusting, too. we probably have a little bit of blowing and drifting snow in indiana, michigan and ohio. and again, those winds this morning around new york city could get as high as 60 miles per hour. the worst of it coming in the next three hours. so keep that in mind as you're driving on the roads or doing anything outdoors. as far as snowfall goes, over the nex

those in harm's way at clackamas town center. city and at portland police will help any way we can. also we have one from governor kitzhaber, who says my thoughts are with the victims and families of the clackamas shooting. i'm making all state resources available. again, just tweets are streaming in as well as well as messages to our facebook page. a lot of them offering their thoughts and their prayers. i'm also monitoring some tweets from our own colleague, kyle iboshi. he has been tweeting that family members are out there in the parking lot, looking for their loved ones, hoping that they're okay, trying to get any information at all. and just basically thoughts, prayers, folks wanting to know what is going on. and giving their sentiments to the folks that are inside this mall. the witnesses, loved ones of those witnesses, and of course all the officers and the law enforcement that is involved. of course, we'll be out here monitoring the tweets, and we'll keep them coming and let you know what we know here from the newsroom. send it back to you. >> all right, thanks, keely. i do want

of fast food workers here in the city of new york took the chance on thursday morning at 6:30 a.m. local time and walked out. protesting for higher pay and the right to organize. in all, reported 200-plus workers took part, including one worker who was later fired. but then, rehired at a brooklyn wendy's restaurant after the restaurant's actions came under direct protest. it's the kind of retaliation and something that these employees are consistently living in fear of and why they stepped out following in the footsteps of the recent walmart black friday strikers. are we now at a tipping point for low-wage labor. are we at a place where it's making a comeback. dorian warren is here with me. i know your work and research and efforts are really around labor organizing. tuesday was quite an exciting moment. >> yes. it was an absolutely exciting, especially the week after black friday where hundreds and thousands of people supported walmart workers, also going on strike. just a little context. fast food as well as retail, fastest growing jobs in america. seven out of ten fastest growing are

in the state since 1997. steel dynamics was already in 19 indiana cities. seal corp. usa expanded because of $340,000 in economic incentives. whayne supply company expanded operations after the state of indiana provided $450,000 in refunds. yet all four of these companies were cited as examples of how right to work brought jobs to the state of indiana. governor mitch daniels specifically said mbc group created jobs in indiana because of right to work. that's false. the mbc group denied it. the truth is not a single company says it came to indiana because of right to work, according to the report. there is more. indiana has been losing jobs to states that don't have right to work laws. manitowoc is closing its indiana facility and moving to cleveland, ohio. diamond foods is closing its indiana facility and going west to california. whirlpool is moving jobs to michigan. a decision that was obviously made before michigan's right to work law was passed. geknight closed its facilities and moved its jobs to neighboring state illinois. governor snyder didn't lie all of the time. here's something
